As a child in Te Kaha on the remote East Coast of NZ, Inez grew up with 7 sisters and 1 brother.  This ring is an interpretation of Matariki (the Pleiades cluster commonly known as the 7 Sisters) and she dedicates this ring to her siblings by the inclusion of 9 diamantes.

The Maori new year is marked by the rise of Matariki. The pre-dawn rise of Matariki can be seen in the last few days of May every year.
Traditionally, depending on the visibility of Matariki, the coming season's crop was thought to be determined. The brighter the stars indicated the warmer the season would be and thus a more productive crop. It was also seen as an important time for family to gather and reflect on the past and the future, to remember whakapapa (ancestry) and the legacy they left behind.

We handcraft each Too Luscious Resin Ring.
