Like us our Maori ancestors were passionate about adornment!  Even in the face of bare survival they still prioritised the creation of beautiful things.  The ancient Pekapeka is simply a double headed Manaia (Guardian) and was designed primarily as a beautiful neck adornment.  Our contemporary version of the Pekapeka is a real show stopper - we get so many comments when we wear this.
