Resin Heru in Barley Sugar Orange
The Heru (Maori Hair Comb)
The Heru was a beautiful form of adornment for the hair. In Maori culture the head is extremely tapu (sacred), so anything relating to your head or hair, is very personal. In ancient times the Heru was usually worn by those of high rank, and this particular shape was designed specifically to double as a close contact weapon. The Heru was worn by both men and women, and is still worn today as a statement of cultural pride and beauty.
Too Luscious has taken this ancient form of adornment and given it a contemporary twist! All our pieces are inspired by our heritage and culture, and designed to be funky, fabulous – and get attention!
How is it made?
We handcraft each and every Too Luscious taonga (treasured piece). The original Heru was hand carved in wood by Rotorua Master Carver Tony Thompson. We hand-make our own moulds, mix, colour and pour the resin by hand, then hand finish and polish each piece. Moulds have a very limited life, so all our pieces are made in limited numbers. Time, care, effort and a little piece of us goes into every piece, which makes each one special. They are also made with care for the environment, so you can feel good knowing you chose a product that is good to the earth.
We guarantee you will love our funky resin jewellery and the attention it brings, or you can return it within 30 days - no questions asked! So you can purchase risk free and guilt free. Look fabulous, and get attention while you save the world! How good is that?
